Through a biomorphic perspective, COOBBY designed the form of its installation by merging elements from nature and technology, creating the digital biomimetic kinetic installation Mimicry: 1. The work incorporates mechanical flowers that emulate the shapes of plants and animals, light-axis structures that simulate tree branches and trunks, and multiple screens that present digitalized visual simulations of consciousness, time, and nature. Together, these components radiate the multifaceted allure of art and technology. From a technical perspective, the installation is grounded in the concept of digital biomimicry. Large datasets of plant and animal images were deconstructed and regenerated using the AI image-generation software Stable Diffusion. Structural design and component configuration were carried out within 3D modeling software, followed by on-site assembly in accordance with the 3D renderings. From a conceptual perspective, the title Mimicry: 1 draws inspiration from the syntax of weighting in AI image-generation prompts. In the present era, the rapid development of AI has influenced human confidence in artistic creation: some individuals feel troubled by it, while others become dependent on it. Yet the boundaries of AI’s imaginative capacity remain defined by human beings. Rather than being constrained by competition with technology, we should return to the original source of imagination—sustaining curiosity and inquiry toward all things. Mimicry: 1 emphasizes that imagination should be nourished in the human mind rather than in machines.

 

COOBBY通过仿生视角对装置进行形态设计,将自然物和科技物元素进行结合,打造出数字仿生动态装置《拟态:1》,作品模仿自然界动植物造型的机械花、模拟树枝树干形态的光轴结构和大量屏幕中对意识、时空和自然的数字化视觉模拟,无不在散发着艺术与科技的多重魅力。 在技术方面,作品基于“数字仿生”的概念原点,运用AI图像生成软件Stable Diffusion对大量动植物图像进行解构和再生成, 在三维软件中进行结构设计和组件配置,最后按照三维效果图进行装置的落地装配。 在概念方面,作品名“拟态:1”是对AI绘画程序中提示词语法权重的借鉴。在当今时代下,AI的发展影响了人类艺术创作的信心,导致部分人被它所困扰,部分人被它所捆绑;但决定AI想象力上限的依旧是人类本身,我们应该从和技术的博弈中回到想象力的原点——对万事万物保持好奇和探究。“拟态:1”便是对想象力更应该输入人脑而不是电脑这一概念的强调。
